Gary brings over 30 years experience as a professional recording engineer/ producer to A. Hammer Mastering. He has been a Mastering Specialist since 1982, with hundreds of albums to his credit covering all genres of recordings- from classic jazz to classic rock, alt-rock, rap and hard rock to folk, classical, spoken word and even sound effects. (Click here or here for a short list of Gary's credits; click here to see album artwork from some recent selected projects.)
In addition to his service in audio, Gary is a longtime respected musician, and brings this aesthetic to bear when you bring your project to A. Hammer for mastering. He knows how hard you have worked to bring your music to a place where you want to share it with the world, and has the combination of mastering experience and musical savvy to help your project find its most expressive voice at a price you can afford.

- "Finding Gary was like finding that sound oasis I have been searching for all these years. The man is a chemist, and his sound formulas take the audio quality of the music he is working with to glistening heights." David Katznelson, Birdman Records
- "Many famous musicians have had an album mastered from Gary, yet he is still available to the locals at such reasonable rates. He's adept at virtually any style of music. What really makes Gary stand out though, is his intent to do the BEST he can on any project. I've never had to worry when I have hired him to master audio for my web site, demos or CD. It's great when you know someone who is the best at what they do." Dianne Nola
- "At RUNT we release between 24 and 36 CD reissues (as well as several new music projects) each year. Nearly all of these are mastered by Gary Hobish. The master material for our reissues varies greatly from well-preserved major label big studio recordings from the '60s and '70s to several generation transfers of archival field hollers and folk music. Gary has the ability to bring the maximum possible sonic fidelity and clarity to each of our CD releases, regardless of source. Gary is a pro!" Russ Tolman, Runt Distribution (DBK Works, Plain Recordings, Masked Weasel)
